Hydration at Home
For natural hair clients, these are the basics that keep your hair soft, strong, and growing between visits. Skip the leave-in, oil, and deep conditioning steps during the first week after a fresh silk press, when your hair should stay free of oil and cream.
- Start with water. Lightly mist or dampen your hair before you add any product.
- Seal in the moisture. Follow the water with a leave-in conditioner, then seal your ends with a light oil or butter (the LOC or LCO method).
- Deep condition once a week. Use a moisturizing deep conditioner for 20 to 30 minutes, with gentle heat if you have it.
- Protect it at night. Sleep in a satin bonnet or on a satin pillowcase so your hair keeps its moisture.
- Use styling tools sparingly. Skip direct heat between appointments, and always use a heat protectant.
- Keep your ends healthy. Get a trim every 8 to 12 weeks, and keep low-manipulation styles in your rotation.
Between Visits
Treatments between appointments protect your length, shine, and strength.
- When you come back for wash day after a silk press, pair your next press with a deep treatment.
- If you wear extensions and your ends feel dry or rough, plan a treatment at your refresh appointment.
- Book a Hydration Day when your hair needs a deeper reset than your routine at home can give it.
For microneedling and smoothing treatments, follow the instructions you receive at your appointment, and text me if you have any questions.
Pair your press with a scalp treatment at every other visit. Within three months, you will see the difference in your roots, your shedding, and your overall density.
